Building Community

The 2022 Summit

More than 200 organizations across eight sectors representing Mexico, Canada, the U.S., and Indigenous Nations, came together for two days in May for a multi-national summit to commit to conserve North America’s Central Grasslands. Represenatives included a cross-section of leaders and experts that live and work in the Central Grasslands — including producers on working land, Indigenous/First Nations, federal, state and provincial agencies, foundations, industry, and nongovernmental organizations including land trusts, tribal representatives and academia.

Highlights

We joined together on May 24th and 25th, 2022 at Colorado State University's Lory Student Center as a diverse community to:

  • Solidify and celebrate leaders’ and delegates’ commitments to reaching the Grassland Roadmap’s goals

  • Collectively prioritize immediate action steps to implement the Roadmap in the next 1 – 3 years and make measurable changes toward our collaborative scorecard. See the Summit Process Diagram here.

Virtual Summit

  • With two exceptions, this program is for virtual participation, not hybrid.  Virtual means that interaction between in-person and virtual attendees does not happen as it would in a true hybrid situation, and thus the virtual and in-person schedules do not mirror one another.

  • This difference provides a more meaningful virtual experience so that participants are not left with Zoom fatigue after two days, and actually have a couple of different, and creative ways to participate over the course of the Summit.

  • Technology in an uncontrolled, large conference setting is tenuous.  We are planning for contingencies to provide virtual participants with the best experience possible, but we will all rely on some grace as we work through this creative process.

  • Not all links are posted below but will be made available prior to each session; this Virtual Program is for pre-registered participants only; please help us keep the quality of this program by not sharing links or passwords.

  • Check this page for updates.
