Partners for Conservation

A landowner-led nonprofit organization, Partners for Conservation focuses on grassroots conservation efforts. PFC works to support farmers and promote conservation through “voluntary, incentive-based public and private programs,” including partnerships with other agencies, non-profits, and policymakers.

In 2008 and 2009, partners in Colorado and Montana hosted a number of meetings between various stakeholders intended to foster a sharing of resources and knowledge around private land conservation. Partners for Conservation (PFC) originated out of these discussions as a representation of private landowners and their partners.

Since its inception, PFC has expanded into a number of Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic states with other smaller cooperation spawning in rural and urban communities across the U.S. The organization has also fortified its initial partnership with the US Fish and Wildlife Service’s Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program, and developed relationships with other partners including the USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service. Recently, PFC partnered with the National Wildlife Refuge Association, out of which came the hiring of the PFC’s first executive director.

PFC identifies a wide variety of US biospheres under their “Our Landscapes” program. For an interactive map of these locations, visit their webpage here: https://www.partnersforconservation.org/our-landscapes/.
